SEPTEMBER 2018 – OUR SENIORS ARE OUT IN FORCE

Following on from our Seamie Weldon Memorial 5K on the 1st of September our Seniors were back out again enjoying a few runs and slowly growing in numbers. Here’s how they got on this month…

September 1st – Our Juniors and Seniors joining forces for our Annual Seamie Weldon Memorial 5K.

September 2nd – Ronan O’Sullivan with recent newcomers Kevin Carroll and Dave Symmons headed off to the SSE Airtricity/Frank Duffy 10 mile with some wonderful results.  Ronan 1:12:52, Kevin 1:18:52 and Dave 1:22:40 (pb) – Great running Lads.

September 8th – An excited bunch headed off to the Dromiskin 5K.  All enjoyed themselves with some wonderful running, great times… Paul Barnes 20:02, Ben Corcoran 21:43, David Symmons 22:03, Domhnall Lennon 23:27, Peter Carolan 23:51, Michelle Lynch 24:05, AnneMarie Dillon 24:06, Derek Gillespie 24:38, Tracey McCarron 26:24, Brian Duff 27:41, Kathleen Brennan 28:23, Leah Gallagher 29:15, Johanne Dillon 29:37, Clare Coyle 33:48 and Deirdre McMahon 34:16.  Well done everyone, great to see ye all out and about together.

Newcomer Clare Coyle, she’s taken to running like a duck to water and we hope to see more of her.  Well done Clare.

Johanne Dillon, there’s no stopping this woman, completing her 5k’s these days in under 30 minutes, next goal for Johanne is to finish in 25.  You can do it Johanne, well done.

September 9th – A 20 minute or so 5K on Saturday evening wasn’t enough for Paul Barnes and Domhnall Lennon as they joined Leo Farrell for the Dundalk MCI Half Marathon the morning after the Dromiskin 5K.  All three achieved great times with Leo taking 4th position overall.  (Leo 1:36:25, Paul 1:43:39 & Domhnall 1:59:30)  Well done Lads.

And across the Irish we had our international runner, Barry Reid run an amazing time of 1:41:09 at the Great Northern Run Half Marathon in Newcastle.  Good man Barry.

September 16th – Well done to Leo Farrell 20:27 (1st place in the Over 50 category), Tracey McCarron 26:39 and Brian Duff 26:52 at the Boyne 5K and to our Juveniles, Jack McCarron (2nd place overall) Dylan McCarron and Jessica McCarron in the 3K Family Fun Run.  Wonderfull running.

September 22nd – Three of our toughest headed to the SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon in the Phoenix Park – Ronan O’Sullivan 1:34:08 (pb), Kevin Carroll 1:41:27 and Domhnall Lennon 1:53:13.  Great running lads.
And later that day and feeling quite energised Domhnall headed quickly back to Louth to support and run with a merry band of mostly newcomers in Blackrock AC’s 4 mile road race – Peter Carolan 30:21, Michelle Lynch 31:37, Domhnall Lennon 33:37, Brian Duff 33:57, Joanne Dillon 37:37, Allison Duffy 38:12, Teresa Durnin 42:10, Clare Coyle 45:59 and Deirdre McMahon 46:01.  Well done everyone.

September 30th – Four happy men headed to Monaghan for the Monaghan Phoenix AC Half Marathon and ran some wonderful times, Shane Carroll 1:30:30, Leo Farrell 1:34:42, Paul Barns 1:35:48 and Ben Corcoran 1:46:51.  Well done lads.
