While our club prepares for two of our annual events, our Juvenile Open Track & Field Sports Day and our Seamie Weldon Memorial 5K and 10K our members still found time to pop over to our local parkruns and fit in a race to two…
August 1st – A quite start to the month with Ronan O’Sullivan enjoying a sunny Oldbridge parkrun.
August 7th/8th – On Friday evening our members took part in the Carlingford 5K. A poplular and very fast 5K our juniors, Max and Alfie O’Sullivan were outstanding with both of them obtaining new PS suported by their mum Bernie Balfe and other members, Tracey Gillespie, Vincent McQuillan, Paddy O’Mahony and Barry Rogers. And the following morning we had happy faces enjoying sunny parkruns in Deerpark Carlanstown and Oldbridge.
August 15th – The morning began with Max, Teresa and Joan enjoying Oldbridge parkrun. Up in Dublin at the Pheonix Park we had ………. running the Frank Duffy 10 Miler and a huge shout out to Ashling on her new PB. Meanwhile back in Co. Meath Vincent McQuillan, Peter Carolan and Dave Symmons had fantastic runs in the Rathkenny 5K taking home the 2nd place team prize along with a 1st place prize for Vincent in the O50 category and a 2nd place prize for David O40 category. Fantastic running, well done Everyone.
August 22nd – While Joan and Vincent were enjoying the parkrun in Oldbridge Rory Cousins had a fantastic run at the Rossin Rovers 5K finishing 2nd overall. What an achievement.
August 29th – A busy weekend for our members. On Saturday morning Frank Meade popped over to Deerpark parkrun Carlanstown while David Tyhuis ran the Tullamore Half Marathon in Co. Offaly and Rory Cousins put in another great performace finishing 2nd at the Monasterboice 5K. The following day and ‘blessed amongst women’, Michael Pentony proved you’re never too old to run a sub-3. Michael had a fantastic race finishing with a new impressive marathon PB of 2:58. Meanwile, daughtger Aoife, Pauline Breslin, Amanda McElroy and Deirdre McEneaney ran the 5K and and Ashling O’Malley, Karen Taaffe, Ursula Mothiram and Louise Thyuis were impressive in the Half Marathon.
