Leinster Juvenile Championships 2018

The Leinster Juvenile Championships… our Teams, Pairs & Individuals.

In the month of June some of our athletes competed at the Leinster Teams, Pairs and Individual Juvenile Championships…..

June 4th/Teams

June Bank Holiday Monday saw 4 wee men head to Tullamore for the very first time to compete in the U9 Leinster Juvenile ‘Team’ Championships.  Cian Lundon, Max O’Sullivan, Alex Callan and Oran Lynch.  All four competed so well, they may not have made it to the podium but they did themselves proud and all at the Club are extremely proud of them.

June 9th/Pairs/U9s & U10s

Back again were our U9 Team of new comers (seen in the picture above) Cian Lundon, Alex Callan, Oran Lynch and Max O’Sullivan.  Just missing out in the medals and coming a very respectable 4th were Cian & Alex in the Turbo Javelin while Oran & Alex did really well coming 5th overall in a field of 15 pairs in the 60m sprint and Max & Oran running extremely well in the 300m.  A wonderful experience for these boys and promising future ahead of them. Well done boys.

Another pair on the day were Tom Maguire and Ashyn Moithram who came an amazing 3rd place in a very tough group in the U10 Turbo Javelin.   Well done boys a wonderful achievement for them both in their second year attending the Leinsters.

Competing too on the 16th and 17th were three of our seasoned juvenile athletes, Orlaith Carolan, James Maguire and Abbie Sheridan Orlaith competed very well in a tough field coming 6th overall in the U14 Shot Put, this lady continues to surprise us.  James ran well in the U14 80m sprint and was short listed to the top 8 in the U14 Long Jump but then jumped his way to the podium taking BRONZE in the U14 High Jump, a busy young man who is the jumper of the club.  Abbie too was in running form taking home the SILVER in the U17 3000m and back again on the 17th the last day of the Championships Abbie took BRONZE in the U17 1500m, Abbie’s commitment and persistence is second to none.  What wonderful performances, congratulations to these young promising athletes.
