Lots of running for our Adults this month and it began with the Louth Novice Cross Country Championships held in the GAA Centre of Excellence in Darver…
OCTOBER 3rd – The Ladies were up first in the Novice 3000m and they certainly set the bar for the rest of our club competing that day with a super 3rd place Team medal and a 1st place win for Abbie Sheridan. Wonderful running from Abbie and team mates, Michelle Lynch, Nicki Cadden and Tracey Gillespie.
The men soon followed in the Novice 6000m, Conor Lynch, Alan Malone, Tony Finegan, Connell Keenan & Robert McNeice. A gallant effort from these men with some wearing the Ardee colours for the first time just missing out on a Team medal coming 4th overall.
OCTOBER 3rd
And just before we left the sunny but windy grounds in Darver word arrived that Michael Pentony had just completed the Belfast City Marathon in 3hrs and 39 minutes. Well done Michael.
OCTOBER 9th
WOW, what a turnout! Twenty or our athletes headed north to the Cooley Coast Run. The rain didn’t dampen their spirits and all returned to a picnic delight and in time to enjoy the afternoon sun. Well done Everyone and a special shout out to Danny Cirdei who placed 2nd in the Over 40s. Ardee Hey
OCTOBER 9TH
While most of our club were running in the rain at the Cooley Coast Run, member Liam Giggins was toughing it out, swimming, cycling and running in the Lanzarote 1/2 Ironman. Liam had a fantastic competition finishing in 5 hours and 45 minutes. Good on ya Liam.
OCTOBER 10th
Day 2 and our Adults were back again at the Louth Championships, this time competing in the beautiful setting of Bellurgan Park for the Intermediate event. The morning had a misty start to it but it soon cleared to reveal a warm, sunny day adding to the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of these Championships. Our Ladies began the first race of the day with Bernie Balfe, Michelle Lynch, Belinda Rogers and Nicki Cadden running a tough 4000m through wild grass and cow pats to take home the 3rd place Team medal and leaving the roads of the Cooley 10k Coast Run the day before Danny Cirdei, Tony Finegan and Michael Pentony returned to the peninsula to run an impressive 8000m each giving their all. Well done ladies and gentlemen.
