Our Seniors we busy in June from Marathons to Road Races and Track & Field Competition…

June 2nd – You’d never know where our members might pop up… In Dublin this afternoon, Michelle Lynch ran the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon in an impressive time of 51:06 (unofficial), while up north and completing his 20th Marathon in a time of 3:52:27 Barry Reid ran the Derry City Marathon and down in Tullamore, Darren Weldon took silver in the Hammer Throw at the Leinster Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships. Well done to you all.

 

June 2nd – A special mention to this amazing athlete. Congratulations to Michael Lundon who took home 3 Golds and 1 Silver from the Leinster Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships in Tullamore on Saturday. Michael won in his category the Under 50s wining gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m and silver in the High Jump. What an inspiration, well done Michael.

June 8th – Early on June 8th six of our members took on the Glenmore Challenge. Competing in the 10k were Leo Farrell 44:11, Ciara Cousins 55:22 and Roy Crawley 53:02. Leo was the 4th man home overall and won 1st place in his o50 category while Ciara was the 4th woman home, 1st in the senior female category. Going that little bit further and runny the 10 Miles were Danny Cirdei 1:10:59, Brian Duff 1:21:12 and David Tyhuis 1:23:29. Tantalizing close to the podium Danny was the 10th man home overall and 6th is his category, there’s lots more to come from this man! Well done to these wonderful runners and thank you to Glenmore AC,s Glenmore Challenge a tough course, relentless hills but thoroughly enjoyable and as always a well run event, wonderful atmosphere.

June 8th – Congratulations to Tracey McCarron who for the 5th time completed the JFK 50 Mile Challenge in Moylagh, Co. Meath yesterday. Well done Tracey, amazing achievement.

June 10th – Well done to these 4 men who ran The Long Woman’s 5K yesterday. Fantastic running from all 4 with a 2nd place win for Shane Carroll 19:05 followed closely by Leo Farrell 21:11, Roy Crawley 24:32 & Aidan Mooney 27:24.

June 21st – Ardee & District AC were out in force this evening enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of Drogheda & District Ac’s Midsummer 5K through the streets of Drogheda. Leading this marvellous dozen was Danny Cirdei 20:11 with Ben Corcoran 21:08, Paul Barnes 21:13 and Conor Lynch 22:02 hot on his heels. Michelle Lynch 23:02 was our first woman home, soon followed by Peter Carolan 23:46, Richie McGuinness 27:05, Deirde Breen 28:16, Pauline Breslin 29:30; Amanda McElroy 30:19, Trudi McGuinness 32:34 and Deidre McMahon 37:49. Well done everyone, it looks like you had fun.

June 22nd – With her No. 1 Fans to cheer her on Bernie Balfe finished the Waterford Viking Marathon in a super time of 3:27:44 this morning. Well done Bernie, enjoy the celebrations.

June 22nd – ‘The two Daves’ were rockin’ it at the Dunshaughlin 10K this evening. Weather conditions were perfect and both men enjoyed the route and special atmosphere as Dunshaughlin Athleticclub celebrate their 40th Anniversary this year. Wonderful running from both men, fantastic times – David Tyhuis 47:24 and David Symmons 48:56. Well done to you both.

June 23rd – Leinster’s (o40-49) Masters Pentathlon Champion Michael Lundon headed to Morton Stadium in Dublin today to the AAI Games National Combined Events and what a day he had… Jumping 4.34m in the long jump and 1.33m in the high jump together with his 4th place in the shot, 3rd place in the 110m hurdles and his amazing 1st place in the 1500m in a time of 5 minutes beating the field by a mere 29 seconds Michael secured himself the 3rd spot on the podium proudly taking home his hard earned National Bronze Medal. Well done Michael, you are a true inspiration to us all in the club.
