Ardee athletes represent Louth in the National League…
On May 20th two of our athletes, Abbie Sheridan and Darren Weldon represented Louth in Round 1 of the National League in Mary Peter’s Track, Belfast (Abbie jumped 1.45m in the high jump and Darren earned 2nd & 3rd place in the Hammer and Discus). Then on June 30th Abbey and Darren were joined by Aoibheann Carolan to compete in Round 2 of the National League in Morton Stadium, Dublin (Aoibheann ran in the 4x100m relay, Abbie competed in the high jump and 1500m and Darren threw the hammer). After both rounds Louth’s Men’s Team were in joint 4th place in Division One of the League and Louth’s Women’s Team were in 2nd place of the Premier Division… This secured both Team’s places in the National League Final in Tullamore on July 20th.
On July 21st, both Abbie Sheridan and Darren Weldon were back again representing Louth at the National League Final. Darren came 4th in the hammer and 8th in the discus with the Men’s Team finishing 6th overall in Division One of the League and Abbie coming 4th in the High Jump and for the first time ever competing in the 3000m steeple chase came 1st earning valuable points for our Women’s Team who came a tantalising 4th place over all for Louth in the Premier Division of the League. Well done to our athletes and all their team mates on the Louth Men’s and Women’s Teams.
