Juveniles going from Schools XC to Indoor Championships…

On February 12th, Max O’Sullivan, representing Ardee Community School qualified from the Leinster Schools’ Cross Country Championships in the Phoenix Park, Dublin to the National Schools’ XC Championships in Galway on March 8th. A first time experience for Max at a National Schools’ event and he ran really well. Well done Max.

This month also saw the beginning of the indoor season for three of our more experienced juveniles, U16s Ruri Mothiram and Alex McFadden and U17 Emma Boyle. Returning to indoor competition from a serious injury and an absence of a year, Emma showed us what she’s made of jumping her way back into contention, finishing top 8 at the Leinster Championships in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin and TUS in Athlone. She came 5th in the High Jump, 6th in the 60mHurdles and 8th in the Long Jump. Alex and Ruri also had success with Alex taking bronze in the 400m and Ruri silver in the Shot Put. Unfortunately, there was no national indoor event for Alex in the U16 400m but Ruri and Emma both enjoyed competing with a 6th place finish for Ruri throwing 10.13m in the shot put and Emma jumping 4.01m in the Long Jump.
