A massive well done to all our members who competed on February 17th at Dunleer AC’s 50th Rás na hÉireann in Oldbridge today. It was a lovely club day with our juveniles and seniors out competing together and as the clouds parted the sun shone brightly on this special anniversary for Dunleer AC. All our athletes came away having enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere at this superbly run event.
The first race for the club was the Boys U9 500m and we had immediate success with Harry Breen coming 3rd and Tom Joe McCormack coming 5th both receiving the beautiful commemorative medals closely followed by Kristupas and Jokubus Ruškys, Patrick Callan and Alfie O’Sullivan. Our U9s were triumphant as they went on to win the 1st place team medal. Jessica MCarron enjoying an impressive sprint finish just missing out on the medals was our sole runner in the Girls U11 1000m but out in force were Oran Lynch, Alex Callan, Daniel Cirdei and Max O’Sullivan all running out of age impressively came away with the 3rd place team medal in the Boys U11s. Displaying some wonder performances and running 1500m were our U13s, Molly Keenan, Caoimhe Carolan & Gabriele Ruškyte for the girls and Arthur Sands, Dylan McCarron & Charlie Sands for the boys. Next we saw our Girls U15 team of Ava McNally, Orlaith Carolan, Samantha McCarron and Ruth Gillespie run 2500m to take 5th place overall. Jack McCarron was very impressive running out of age in this tough field in the Boys U15 2500m and last for the Juveniles on the day was Rebecca McCarron running a steady race out of age in the U17s 3000m.
