Louth Junior, Senior & Master’s Championships 2019

22 Gold, 11 Silver and 1 Bronze for our Senior Members and Coaches at the Louth Junior, Senior & Master’s Championships…

On the evening of July 4th a merry bunch of seniors and coaches from our Club rocked up to the Lourdes Stadium jumping, throwing and sprinting their way thought Athletics Louth’s Junior, Senior & Master’s Championships… And what a night they had.

❤️ In the Junior Category, both Abbie Sheridan and Aoibheann Carolan were outstanding, Abbie coming 1st in both the 3000m and Long Jump and Aoibheann having a very busy time of it coming 2nd in the 100m, 200m, Long Jump and Shot Putt.

???? Darren Weldon was our only Senior competing and in fine throwing form came away with the gold for both the Javelin and Shot Putt.

???? In the Masters Category we had a number of athletes competing over a wide range of age groups with very impressive results… Competing for the first time ever at this competition we had O35’s Michelle Lynch and Conor Lynch and boy were they impressive. Michelle took home the silver for both the 100m and 3000m and gold in the Fit 4 Life Mile while Conor came away with the gold in the 100m, 200m and Long Jump. Also, competing for the first time were our distance runners O35s Danny Cirdei and O45s David Tyhuis. Danny came 5th in the 3000m and 1st in the 1500m and David came 2nd in the 1500m and 3rd in the 3000m. Another pair of first timers to the Louths were O40s Nathan Anderson and O45s Alice Turley. Nathan came away with the gold for both the 200m and 400m and Alice took home the silver in the Javelin and Shot Putt. Also new to this competition but not new to athletics is our beloved coach Michael ‘Mudger’ McCarron who came away with the gold in the O50s Javelin. Our Veteran competitors and the busiest athletes on the night were O40s Peter Carolan, O45s Michael Lundon and O55s Pauline Breslin. Always smiling our coach Peter happily came 2nd in both the 200m & 400m and 1st in both the 100m and Long Jump while Michael, already a Leinster and National Champion, came away with the gold for the 100m, 200m, 400m and Long Jump and last to be mentioned is our wonderful coach Pauline who also took home 4 golds in the 100m, 200m, Long Jump and Javelin.

❤️ All our members thoroughly enjoyed the night vowing to come back again next year, not just to reclaim their titles! but all declared the atmosphere was fantastic and the comradeship amongst all the athletes and other clubs made it a very special evening. Thank you Athletics Louth and congratulations to all the athletes.
