On Sunday last, Star of the Sea A.C., presented their 26th Annual Cross Country Meeting in Greenanstow
It was a glorious sunny autumn day with the Girls U9 starting the event to run their 500m race. The girls, Paulina Kelly, Katie Sands and Sarah Lynch ran strongly just missing out on individual medals but held their positions to claim a team 3rd place overall.
Next up were the Boys U9 500m with Dylan McCarron breaking out into the lead group, supported by Arthur Sands, Charlie Sands and Lennon Murphy to finish just a couple of places outside claiming a team medal as did the Boys U10 500m, Rob Kelly, Joe Murphy, Daragh Osborn and Jack McCarron who all took to the line and ran proudly alongside some stiff opposition.
Ruth Gillespie led the way for Ardee in the Girls U11 1000m closely followed by Hallie Sands and Ava McNally and holding strong positions with help from Orlaith Carolan and Samantha McCarron they ran home to claim a team 3rd.
The Girls U12 1500m were up next and representing Ardee & District were Charlotte Osborn, Erin Hoey, Adah Murphy and Rebecca McCarron. A new distance for the girls, they all ran strongly gaining great experience and achieving some personal bests as did Emma Gillespie and Aoibheann Carolan for the Girls U13 1500m.
