Glenmore AC’s Juvenile Cross Country Event

???????????? January 30th 2022 – Ardee & District’s Juveniles were competing again this weekend, this time in the beautiful Bellurgan Park. Their new course, full of twists and hills nestled under the Cooley Mountains was both challenging and exciting. From our youngest to the oldest all our Juveniles gave their best on this twisting and hilly course.

Our U9s Gerard Thornton & Charlie Malone, competing up an age displayed some supper running, especially up those hills and as always finishing with a smile.

Our U11 Girls, Sophia McKenny, Rhona Keenan, Tess Maguire, Evelyn Thornton, Evie Corcoran, Lexie McKenna & Molly Clinton were equally fantastic through their 1000m course with Sophia, Rhona and Tess finishing in the top 10 medal positions, coming 4th, 5th and 6th respectively and Evelyn just missing out on a medal in 11th position.

Our U11 boys, Frank Sands, Sean McCormack, Daire Halpenny, Sean Boyle and Charlie Butler soon followed pushing hard round the course in a huge field of athletes with Frank taking home a 6th place medal.

Running on her own for our club and up an age, Lily Maguire ran with quiet determination in the U13 1500m. She was soon followed by TomJoe McCormack and Daniel Cirdei giving their all and digging deep to display some fantastic sprint finishes.

For the U15 races we had Molly Keenan, Emma Boyle and Liam McGahon. All three were supper, picking them off one by one with Molly and Liam sprinting hard in the end to take home a 9th place medal each in the Girls & Boys 2000m.

Finishing the day for our club were Charlie Sands and Jack McCarron who held strong throughout in a very fast U17 3000m finishing respectively in 4th and 7th position.

Our juveniles, coaches and families thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you Glenmore AC, a super organised event.
