Conor McMahon was the sole competitor from Ardee & District A.C. competing in this weekends National events. Once again Conor travelled to the midlands to the Tullamore harriers stadium to compete in the National combined events finals.
Conor was up against the top multi eventers in the country and a third place finish in the 100m hurdles (15.53) and shot putt (8.80) put him in a great third position before taking on the jumping events.
At the long jump Conor’s best jump of 5.88m earned him 561 points to push him into second place. The penultimate event was the high jump where Conor needed to aim high. He once again rose to the challenge and cleared a height of 1.70m equalling his pb.
With the points from the four events tallied Conor was in second place as he took to the track with all to run for in the 800m. A fast pace was set and Conor ran his own race finishing in a time of 2.28.51.
When all the points gathered throughout the day were added, Conor was called to the podium for second place and a National silver medal.
