A group of Ardee and District A.C. athletes took the opportunity to travel to neighboring county Meath for competition before the Louth championships. They took part in Cushinstown annual track and field sports day.With trophies being awarded for first, second and third placings this event attracts clubs from far and wide with clubs from Meath, Louth, Dublin and Kildare all being represented.

First trophy of the day was awarded to Abbie Sheridan in the girls u14 high jump. Abbie exceeded her own expectations clearing the bar at all heights to earn an new personal best of 1.39m finishing in joint first place. Abbie then finished in 4th place in both the u14 long jump and the u14 100m sprint. However in the longer 200m sprint She managed to go one better and finish in 3rd place.

Conor McMahon effortlessly won the u16 long jump despite having to retire from the competition after his second jump due to a recurring injury.
Our youngest athletes Jessica McCarron, Caoimhe Carolan and Dylan McCarron all showed true grit and determination in the u8 sprint.
Aoibheann Carolan finished just outside a podium position in forth place in the girls u13 100m.

The boys u10 Dylan McCarron, Jack McCarron, Joe Murphy and Darragh Osborn ran a close 4x100m relay and were unlucky not to leave with a medal.
Ava McNally, Ada Murphy, Samantha McCarron and Orlaith Carolan took to the podium for their third place in the girls u12 relay.

Not to be out done by the u12s, the u14 girls Aoibheann Carolan, Rebecca McCarron, Eireann Hoey and Abbie Sheridan also came in third place.
Great cheer was to be heard as the crowd gathered to watch the days final event. Club coaches Tracey McCarron, Pauline Breslin, Mudger McCarron and Peter Carolan put into practice what they preech when they came home in third place in the senior mixed 4x100m relay.
