A week of storms and almost artic conditions made way for beautiful sunshine on Sunday morning for Blackrock ac annual cross country race meeting at the Geraldines gaelic football club in Haggartstown.
Fintan Kelly who made his debut into cross country finished in 5th place in the boys u7 100m.
After a fall at the start Paulina Kelly clawed her way back up to the front to claim silver for her 2nd place in the u9 girls 500m.
Rob Kelly moved up an age to the boys u11 1000m and acquitted himself well over the longer distance by finishing in 3rd place.
The girls u11 team all ran an excellent race over the 1000m, with Ava McNally first home in 4th, Ruth Gillespie in 7th and Samantha McCarron making up the team to take the final place on the podium for a team 3rd.
Abbie Sheridan again showed she is a force to be reckoned with competing one year out of age, finished well ahead of the rest to take the gold in the girls u15 2000m. Amy Manning also in the girls u15 put in a strong performance to finish in 3rd place taking the bronze medal.
Niamh McGuinness and Tara McGuinness also moved up an age into the girls u17 2500m race. Tara finished strongly to take bronze for her 3rd place.
The fit for life was the final race of the day. Pauline Breslin was running solo for the club put in a mighty performance over the 2500m.
